Children 12 years Mesothelioma Diagnosis

Boerem Taylor, a boy 12 years old was diagnosed with peritoneal mesothelioma. Taylor was diagnosed with stage four peritoneal mesothelioma on March 24, 2010. Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that is almost caused by exposure to asbestos. Most cases of mesothelioma of the pleura and grow in the lungs, but peritoneal mesothelioma develops in the lining of the stomach.
 

This is very rare for people ages Taylor who was diagnosed with malignant mesothelioma. From the time a person exposed to asbestos, the symptoms often occur between 20 and 50 years to appear. However, young children are exposed to asbestos are more susceptible to developing the disease compared with adults.

Taylor's parents, Trevor and Mary Boerem, saw their son suffered weight loss, fatigue, headache, nausea and sweating at night, which are all symptoms of malignant mesothelioma. The family initially tried chiropractic care before undergoing exploratory surgery on March 19, 2010.

After evaluating the results and additional tests, the cancer has been widely found around the belly. Boerem Mrs. Taylor said that research shows is the sixth child to be diagnosed with peritoneal mesothelioma, and he is currently the youngest person who had cancer.


Taylor has undergone surgery and other treatment at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Refers to the condition of Taylor, Mrs. Boerem said, "He has heard from others about mesothelioma prognosis is."
